Answers to FAQs For Online Registration Customers
- Q: Who is a resident?
- A: A resident is considered to actually live in the city limits of the City of Belmont, zip code 94002. For renting a facility, you will be asked to show id or a PG&E bill to prove residency.
- Q: What is a convenience fee and why is it charged?
- A: The fee that is charged for using online registration is referred to as the convenience fee; as it is optional to register online, and there are fees associated with doing so. City of Belmont does not collect nor receive any part of those fees. They are strictly the cost of doing business online. Therefore, they cannot be refunded when a class cancels whether due to insufficient enrollment, your own withdrawal or any other reason.
- Q: Is it secure to register online with you?
- A: Credit card numbers are encrypted in Active secure database which is located behind a firewall. Personal information and such encrypted credit card numbers collected on Active are stored in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public. All credit card and registration information supplied by users is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. More specifics and privacy information is available on our introduction page to Activenet in the lower left hand corner.
- Q: What is your refund policy?
- A: We understand there are many valid reasons you may need to ask for a refund, but our policy is only to refund one week prior to the class starting. There are a number of reasons we do not refund other than this. We have instructors who are independent contractors and need to make minimum enrollments and have made commitments in their schedule for these classes.
- Q: What does it mean to have a credit?
- A: There are two types of credit referred to this way. One is crediting back the dollar amount to your credit card account. The second would be crediting your in-house Activenet account for the amount of the class. That would mean there are dollars to apply toward a future program or class. If you were to register for a future program online, it would automatically apply the credit to your new fee owed. If you register with us, we would bring up that credit and deduct it from what you owe.
- Q: Can I make up a class if I miss one?
- A: Some instructors that offer a number of classes with us will allow a makeup class. Yoga, for example, is offered 3 nights a week and she has students come another night to make up missed holiday classes. You also may make up a missed class due to illness on another night in that case. However, this is not our standard policy, and is strictly at the discretion of the instructor.
- Q: Can I try a class without registering for it?
- A: We do not currently have a policy in place, but may in the future. For liability purposes, you must register for a class before attending. Often you can observe a class before registering if you get permission from the instructor.
